People are complicated

Life is chaotic and that scares us

So we try to define, label, constrain, and guide

It gives us comfort

But the thing is

the more we try to control the uncontrollable the worse it gets.

It’s a lot like being swept out like an ocean current.

Anyone who swims will tell you to relax and float along…that struggling is futile and you’ll just exhaust yourself.

Eventually you’ll be out of the current.

You’ll be somewhere new but you’ll be ok.

You’ll be tired and a little scared but you’ll make it back to shore and you’ll have discovered something new.

it’s nice to see people who look more like me on my dash.

I love to see the celebration of all women’s bodies.

Gorgeous.

This is VERY important

You can read all about it HERE, and it’s as awesome as it looks and sounds.

From the article:

Made With Code is a new Google initiative to motivate future female programmers. Only 18% of computer science degrees are earned by women, and Google is spending $50 million over the next three years to change those numbers.

More than 150 high school girls turned out for the event, including local chapters of the Girl Scouts of the USA, Black Girls Code and Girls Who Code. Kaling, a writer and actress, emceed the premiere, which brought in Google X Vice President Megan Smith, Clinton Foundation Vice Chair Chelsea Clinton, iLuminate creator Miral Kotb, Pixar Director of Photography Danielle Feinberg and UNICEF Innovation cofounder Erica Kochi.

This is so important because this will give girls a HUGE confidence boost. Girls should feel empowered to create and engineer and problem solve. I am in a class split into two sections of eighty people with SEVEN females and SEVENTY THREE males. We need more girls in this profession PLEASE learn how to code even if it’s something as simple as html you can only grow from there. Tech jobs are in such high demand and honestly, being a female is an advantage because there aren’t many in the field.

Some pictures from the rally today at Columbia. So much wonderful support for my sister and I! Emma and I are truly grateful to everyone who came, and everyone who was there in spirit.

This honestly makes me so emotional.

Look at the male body language in the beginning (open) vs the body language in the third and fourth (closed, arms crossed, protecting the midsection and torso).

They don’t look very comfortable any more, do they?

I don’t know why so many people get hung up on “understanding” different sexualities. People are always saying, “I don’t understand bisexuality. I don’t actually think its real.” And honestly its like, I don’t understand physics but that doesn’t mean I think it’s nonexistent.

As a Muslim, I’m sick of people asking me how I feel about 9/11. What do you want me to say, seriously? Do you want me to say, “It was a great plan, mwahahaha!” before I fly off on a magic carpet?

I was born and raised in this country and was just as shocked as everyone else to learn there were people on this earth so vile as to commit such a horrific attack - or to even think about doing it.

But I didn’t do it. Neither did 99.999999999 percent of the roughly 1.5 billion people in the world who also call themselves Muslims. So why should I or any other Muslim apologize for what happened? Nickleback is planning on releasing another album. Should I ask white people to apologize for that?
